J Blood Match
Connecting Lives Through Technology
J Blood Match is JDI's flagship digital health solution designed to address the critical shortage of safe blood in Nigeria. First launched in November 2019 at Transcorp Hilton, Abuja, the platform uses intelligent matching to connect voluntary blood donors with recipients based on blood type and location—enabling faster, more efficient access to life-saving support.
J Blood Match began as an AI-powered Telegram-based solution, created to test how technology could bridge the gap between donors and recipients in real time. This initial phase allowed JDI to pilot the concept, gather user insights, and validate the need for a more scalable system. Building on lessons from this pilot, the platform evolved into a web-based solution, expanding accessibility and strengthening its ability to manage a growing network of voluntary donors. After over three years of testing, iteration, and community engagement, JDI launched the web app version in February 2023.

J Blood Match Advocacy Programme
Mobilizing Community Champions
Despite growing awareness, voluntary blood donation rates in Nigeria remain low, with many communities lacking accurate information and access to trusted platforms. Launched in 2021, the J Blood Match Advocacy Programme was designed to expand the reach and impact of J Blood Match by empowering individuals to serve as community-based advocates.
JDI adopts a train-the-advocate model, equipping volunteers with the knowledge and tools needed to effectively champion blood donation within their communities. Selected advocates undergo structured virtual training sessions covering principles of effective advocacy, the blood donation process, Nigeria's blood supply challenges, and how J Blood Match works as a solution. Participants receive a certificate of completion, recognising their role as ambassadors of lifesaving change.

Blood Donation Drives
Mobilizing Communities to Save Lives
JDI organizes periodic blood donation drives to increase access to safe blood and promote a culture of voluntary, non-remunerated donation. Since 2019, these drives have served as a critical channel for mobilizing donors and supporting Nigeria's blood supply system.
JDI conducted its first blood drive in 2019 during the launch of J Blood Match, in collaboration with the National Blood Service Commission. Since then, JDI has continued to organise blood drives annually, particularly to commemorate World Blood Donor Day. Through strong partnerships with health authorities and targeted community engagement, JDI ensures that each drive is well-coordinated, impactful, and aligned with national blood safety standards.
